The 10 new coaches will be delivered to the operator’s depot in northwest Ireland on the world renowned Wild Atlantic Way. They will be transporting passengers on scheduled services across the UK and Ireland, as well as providing luxury private coach tours, covering up to 100,000km annually.
James McGinley, Managing Director at McGinley Coach Travel says: “We’re a very loyal Volvo customer and have been buying them since the 1980s. The support is second-to-none, especially considering how we’re so far west that the next town over is New York!
“Our engineers also have forged a very close relationship with our local dealerships, Dennison Commercials and Irish Commercials. They’re always ready to assist, and whenever we need parts, they’ll typically arrive the very next day, which helps us to maximise the uptime we get from our coaches.”
All vehicles are PSVAR-compliant and specified to include Volvo’s premium coach seats, headrests, and footrests for maximum all-day comfort for every passenger. For optimal convenience, there are on-board luggage racks and USB charging points to keep passengers connected on the go. Each will also be finished with the familiar orange, white and blue McGinley Coach Travel livery.
McGinley explains: “Passenger comfort and safety is the priority for us, and Volvo’s vehicles have proven to us that we can rely on vehicles being of a very high quality. We get excellent reviews of our coaches from not only customers, but also our drivers who are also very important.”
Built on Volvo’s new B13R chassis to add fuel savings of up to 9 per cent, the order comprises seven 13.1m 4x2 and three 14m 6x2 models, with 55 and 61 passenger seats respectively. The 9700s are powered by the fuel-efficient Euro-6 D13K engine, producing up to 500 hp and a peak torque of 1,585 Nm, reducing running costs and CO2 emissions. The 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission combines smooth and precise gearshifts with high average speeds and outstanding driveability.
Founded in 1968, McGinley Coach Travel is a family-run coach hire business headquartered in North Donegal, Ireland, providing travel for corporate, holiday and tour groups of all sizes. The company also operates daily coach services between Co. Donegal and Dublin City and Airport
