Earlier, in 2012, Volvo received the HCV (Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Bus of the Year Award for its Volvo 7400XL.

The Volvo 9400PX, which is the flag-bearing product from Volvo Buses in India, brings with it many firsts for the country – steerable axle, the PX platform, I-shift as standard.

Together, this product along with the Volvo 7400XL multi-axle city bus, raises the standards in the top segment in India, which Volvo Buses has developed and led for the last ten years in the country.

“This award endorses the value that Volvo Buses is bringing into India. With the Volvo 9400PX we continue to improve on all fronts – transport economy, passenger comfort, new features and standards and even better fuel efficiency with the I-shift as standard”, said Manish Sahi, Managing Director, Volvo Buses India.

He continued, “We have kept a strong momentum in the industry since 2001, introducing new products and solutions almost every year. To get consequent awards in the bus category is motivating and we now look forward to our products offering our customers and passengers a winning solution. The Volvo 9400PX has received encouraging response from the market and the initial orders are already in place from our key customers.”

At 14.5m, the Volvo 9400PX offers higher occupancy. The coach is built on the new light-weight Volvo PX platform, which coupled with the Volvo 11-litre engine, provides even better grade ability and acceleration as well as enhanced stability and larger luggage space.

A key feature is the steerable rear tag-axle for better road handling and manoeuvrability. The Volvo 9400PX has already been put into trials in India successfully.

The Volvo I-Shift gearbox shows every sign of providing even better opportunities for Indian customers to improve on fuel economy, which today accounts for almost 50% of the transport economy cost.

The spacious interiors of the Volvo 9400PX offers the opportunities for customers to incorporate a range of passenger conveniences from pantry, toilets, VOD and a range of other features for smooth long-distance travel.
