With safe and sustainable urban transport at its core, the Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric chassis enables efficient city and intercity operations – supporting a wide range of electric transit solutions. Its versatile design is backed by Volvo Group’s common architecture, ensuring high uptime and low operating costs for years to come.
The modular energy storage system can hold up to seven batteries – enabling a capacity of up to 630 kWh. This means that the chassis can be tailored to a broad palette of operational needs, operating ranges and energy strategies.
Volvo Buses has been at the forefront of e-mobility for more than a decade. Genuine understanding of people transportation combined with a solid technology platform result in unparalleled uptime and outstanding efficiency.
The Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric is designed to make driving impressively easy, quiet and comfortable. The extensive adjustment possibilities and the ergonomic instrument cluster reduce stress and improve working comfort. Add to that the consistent and predictable behaviour of Volvo’s chassis design. It’s a workstation made to attract, recruit and retain skilled drivers and bring the driver turnover to zero.
The comfortable driver’s environment in a Volvo BZR Electric is probably one of the best available, with world-class ergonomic design and logical layout. With a driveline fine-tuned to perfectly harmonize with the premium quality chassis design, this makes a bus with very low level of vibrations and interior noise.

Volvo Dynamic Steering is a unique Volvo feature that takes most of the effort out of driving a bus. The effortless manoeuvring in roundabouts and when cornering, as well as the automatic return to the dead-ahead position, are major benefits for the driver. They significantly reduce the risk of injuries in the neck, shoulders and
arms, which helps reduce sick days and rehabilitation costs.

A Volvo BZR Electric is a silent and comfortable experience, for everyone. The bus welcomes your passengers silently and gently at the bus stop. Low onboard noise makes it easier to talk to others or listen to music during the ride. The silent propulsion also reduces noise for residents along the route, allowing the bus to get closer to where people actually live and work.
Modular energy storage
Right-sizing your energy storage
With a maximum of 630 kWh installed nominal capacity, the Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric can take on any route. For shorter and less demanding routes, the onboard energy storage can be optimised in size, which saves weight, hence allowing for extra passengers.
More about Volvo’s approach to batteries
The Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric can be equipped with up to seven Volvo Cube battery units, each with a capacity of 90 kWh.
Lithium-ion
Up to 630 kWh total energy capacity
600 V
Automatic temperature control
Brake energy regeneration
A bus battery’s lifetime will substantially increase if it is managed correctly, both in operation and in charging and maintenance. All Volvo electric buses feature a Battery Management System that controls all charging and discharging processes, and which also monitors battery health and performance.
Powertrain
Powerful and smooth
Volvo’s electric buses feature powerful electric Volvo powertrains and optimised transmissions, delivering power and drivability for safe operation in the most demanding conditions. Available with either a single or dual-motor setup, it offers up to 540 hp / 400 kW. This makes the Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric an untiring hill climber and will allow for swift and smooth operation even on the tightest schedules.

200 kW max output / 2x200 kW with dual motors
20,900 Nm max wheel torque / 33,500 Nm with dual motors
All specifications
The Volvo BZR Low Entry Electric is equipped with Hill Start Aid, preventing the bus from rolling backwards when starting on hills. The feature guarantees safe starts with heavy loads even on a 20% uphill gradient.
The Volvo BZR Low Entry single deck version has the option of dual motors to ensure unrestrained performance also in extremely hilly environments. Fully laden, it can maintain more than 50 km/h on a 6% uphill gradient.
Gear changing is automatic and software-controlled. During gear shifting, the transmission program uses the electric motor to synchronise input and output shafts to speed up and optimise the comfort of the gear shift.
Sourcing and circularity
Sustainable thinking pervades the entire life cycle of our vehicles. Our aim is to produce sustainable buses and coaches free from substances of concern, while respecting the environment and human rights. We apply a circular development process that improves our product’s sustainability profile. And we continuously reduce waste and emissions, optimise water use, and improve our handling of solvents, oils and chemicals.
