It features a dynamic instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel and the option of digital external mirrors. In addition you are assisted by our latest systems for driver support.
Powerful and smooth
Driving the Volvo 9700 DD is a sensational experience. The powerful engine and smooth I-Shift transmission provide instant power already from low revs. You can drive at low revs even when on gradients and at motorway speeds, making it easier to maintain a steady pace.
Elevated driving position
In the Volvo 9700 DD, the driver is seated on an elevated platform further away from the front of the bus. A position that improves visibility and driver safety.
Digital external mirrors
The optional external camera mirrors increase safety and fuel efficiency. They also enhance night vision and reduce the risk of hitting obstacles.
Multi-functional steering wheel
The steering wheel is equipped with convenient buttons to operate the cruise control, phone and several media functions while keeping your eyes on the road.
Powertrain

The 13-litre engine and driveline feature several fuel-saving technologies, helping to reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%. The engine compartment layout with a unique cooling system, and lower engine revs at cruising speed, are two examples. For improved environmental performance, the engine can run on both HVO and biodiesel to further reduce CO2 impact by up to 85% with HVO and 45% with biodiesel.

Unique cooling system
The unique cooling system feature dual radiators on opposite sides of the engine installation, served by energy-efficient electrical fans. The temperature is kept low and uniform in all conditions, which contributes to reduced fuel consumption and longer service intervals.
I-See
I-See is an intelligent cruise control that can cut fuel consumption by up to 2.5%. It adapts to the topography and proactively optimises acceleration, gearshifts and braking.
I-Shift transmission
The legendary Volvo I-Shift transmission is known for smooth and fast gear changes. Software optimised for tour and charter, as well as intercity operation, contribute to the fuel savings.

Two convenient staircases directly inside the doors facilitate passenger flow and take you to the upper floor with its bright and relaxing environment. The optional sky roof from front to rear reinforces the airy feeling. Your passengers are seated in comfortable Volvo coach seats, regarded by many customers as the most comfortable seats on the market.

Luggage capacity for all needs
Storage spaces are maximised in the Volvo 9700 DD. In addition to the overhead compartments on both floors, there is optimised space under the front stairs. For bulkier items, the Volvo 9700 DD features a luggage compartment with a capacity of up to 8 m3. Large top-hinged hatches and a large side-hinged door with handy steps facilitate loading and unloading.
