With a new 11-liter engine for Euro 6, Volvo Buses will not only meet future European emission requirements, but will also reduce fuel consumption for its inter-city buses by 2%. The noise level will also be reduced. At the same time, the appearance of both the Volvo 9700 and 9900 will receive a lift. The front will have a more aerodynamic shape than before, new front hood and a new, highly visible Volvo emblem. In the rear, the spoiler, rear window, engine hood and bumper will receive a new design.
Better view for the driver
A new installation for the rear camera and new rearview mirrors will provide the driver with a better all-round view. As an option, additional lighting will be placed above the front door and an electric-driven function for retracting the rearview mirrors from the driver’s seat. In the autumn, headlights will be introduced with integrated fog lights and headlights to light up the area at the front corner of the bus when the bus is turning and will make night driving safer in densely populated areas.
Lower weight saves fuel
In addition to less weight, which is related to the new, lighter engine, Volvo Buses has implemented a number of other weight-saving measures. The most recent generation of passenger seats, for example, will reduce the total weight by approximately 120 kg, compared with the past. Newly designed luggage racks will also contribute to lower weight, while making the bus easier to clean.
