The Volvo 9600 coach continues to strengthen its presence in India's premium intercity transport sector, with two major orders totaling 350 units from leading fleet operators seeking to expand and upgrade their services.

The largest single customer order to date for the Volvo 9600 coach model in India has been placed by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), the public bus operator in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The order comprises 200 Volvo 9600 coaches, including 170 seater coaches and 30 sleeper coaches.

In addition, an additional order has been secured for 150 Volvo 9600 sleeper coaches for Vijayanand Travels, a major private operator serving intercity routes across South, West and Central India. The company operates Asia’s longest bus route, between Bengaluru and Jodhpur, and carries an average of 20,000 passengers every day.

“I am very pleased with these two significant orders and the continued trust in Volvo from key fleet partners. They reflect our shared commitment to raising the standard of intercity travel and making premium passenger experiences more accessible,” says Manish Sahi, Vice President, Volvo Buses MIAC.

“We are honored that two of India’s leading bus operators have chosen to place their trust in Volvo Buses once again. Their decision reflects a shared commitment to giving passengers safe, comfortable and premium travel, and we are proud to support their growth. Rising incomes and modern highway infrastructure are reshaping inter-city travel in India, and we look forward to working alongside operators as they expand their fleets and serve passengers on new routes,” said B Srinivas, Managing Director and CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, responsible for Volvo Buses India.
