Volvo Buses has received an order for 32 buses from Tide Buss for city and regional traffic in Sogn and Sunnhordland, Norway. 28 of the buses will be built on Volvo Buses’ proven and renowned Volvo B8RLE chassis, with bodywork supplied by Spanish bodybuilder UNVI. The remaining four buses will feature bodywork from Carrus Delta and will be built on Volvo Buses’ fuel-efficient B13R chassis.
“We are honored and delighted to have been chosen as a supplier to Tide. This further strengthens the long-term partnership we have established and represents an important step in anchoring our business model,” says Svenn Åge Løkken, Sales Director for Volvo Buses in Norway. “We are also very satisfied with our ability to deliver a competitive and sustainable solution together with our European partners. This plays a crucial role in supporting a resilient European bus industry and safeguarding supply chain and preparedness in an increasingly unpredictable global landscape.”
Tide Buss has selected 28 Volvo B8RLE low-entry chassis with C25-type bodies – a well-established model designed for city and regional transport. The bodywork is supplied by the Spanish bodybuilder UNVI. The buses meet all the requirements for this type of operation under Norwegian conditions, including compliance with the R29 collision safety standard – a specific Norwegian requirement implemented in fall 2023.
In addition to the buses with UNVI bodywork, Tide Buss has ordered four Volvo B13R models, which will feature bodywork from Carrus Delta – the classic version of the Volvo 9700. This proven combination has held a strong position in the market for decades.
All buses will enter service on July 1, 2026, operating in the Sogn and Sunnhordland regions on the west coast of Norway. The agreement also includes full service contracts for all buses. Service and maintenance will be carried out at Volvo dealer Trucknor AS’s service centers in Sogndal and on Stord.
“The collaboration with UNVI and Carrus Delta is part of Volvo Buses’ European business model, which focuses on chassis production and partnerships with external bodybuilders to provide customers with a complete range of buses for city, intercity, and coach segments across Europe,” says Svenn Åge Løkken.
