Volvo Buses has received orders for 15 electric coaches, the Volvo BZR Electric – CD, from six different customers in Norway, marking a strong commercial breakthrough for the company’s latest long-range electric bus platform built on the Volvo BZR Electric coach chassis with a body from Carrus Delta. The orders follow the launch of the new electric coach and reflect growing demand for zero-emission solutions in long-distance and tour and charter transport operations.
“The response clearly shows that customers have been waiting for a solution like this,” says Svenn-Åge Løkken, Market Director, Volvo Buses in Norway. “With these orders, that interest has now materialized into real business.”
Orders have been placed by different customers – Jenssen Mobility, Schaus Buss, Charterbuss.no AS, Stjørdal Meråker Trafikkskole and Bussring – who will deploy the coaches across a wide range of applications, including airport shuttle services, tourist and charter traffic, as well as cruise ship passenger transport.
“Jenssen Mobility has selected electric coaches from Volvo Buses to ensure a strong and reliable European quality product. At a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty, supply security and strategic resilience are more important than ever. This decision supports a robust European industry built on high standards for safety, quality and sustainability. It is a strategic choice for the environment, our customers, and a secure European value chain,” says Frode Jenssen, CEO Jenssen Mobility.
Beyond the coaches themselves, the customers have chosen a complete solution that combines electric coaches with service contracts and Volvo Buses’ Usable Energy Commitment. This includes lifecycle services such as battery second-life handling, further strengthening the sustainability and total cost of ownership proposition.
“It was the complete offering, the trust in Volvo Buses, the flexibility of the solution and the carefree ownership that made the customers choose to purchase their coaches from us,” says Svenn-Åge Løkken.
The coaches are equipped with up to 720 kWh of installed battery capacity, enabling a range of up to 700 kilometers according to SORT 3. Deliveries of the first vehicles are scheduled for fall 2026.
