Keeping a vehicle fleet running smoothly is a daily challenge for any bus or coach operator. That’s why reliable access to service and support is business-critical. To provide more customers with the best possible coverage, Volvo Buses has launched a new type of service contract: the Uptime Care Contract, which uses connectivity to monitor key vehicle components. All service contracts now feature this connected functionality.

Volvo Buses is continuously improving its support throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle. Uptime Care is the next step in this service evolution.
“To our customers, it’s about more than just the vehicles,” says Carina Borelius, Vice President, Solutions Services Electromobility of Volvo Buses. Knowing they can count on a strong service support and extensive service network throughout the vehicle’s lifetime brings real peace of mind – and it’s vital for running reliable, efficient and sustainable operations.”

For decades, the Volvo Gold, Silver, and Blue Contracts have been go-to solutions for operators seeking to ensure uptime at a predictable monthly cost. Now, the new Uptime Care Contract extends these benefits by offering monitoring, providing early warnings when critical components need attention. This functionality is now integrated across the entire contract range, helping operators reduce unplanned stops and improve fleet reliability.
“The Uptime Care Contract makes the benefits of connectivity available to our customers. It acts like an extra set of eyes on the vehicle, providing early alerts when attention is needed, whether the operator relies on Volvo workshops or manages service in-house,” says Pankhuri Arora, Service Contract Manager at Volvo Buses.

Sensors monitor the wear and performance of key components – such as brake pads, contactor box and the clutch – in real time. If a check-up or action is required, the Volvo workshop monitors the alerts and will proactively contact the operator to deliver parts, offer advice, or schedule a workshop visit. Addressing potential issues early helps operators stay ahead, minimizing breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
“Knowing the health status of critical components in advance makes workshop visits even smoother and more efficient, with the right parts ready and fewer unexpected issues,” says Pankhuri Arora. “Ultimately, it’s all about boosting uptime and keeping fleets rolling.”

The upgraded Gold, Silver, and Blue Contracts, along with the new Uptime Care Contract, are available for both electric and diesel-powered Euro 6-certified vehicles.
