  • Volvo Buses bodybuilding partner MCV is now opening an all-new, Volvo-dedicated special production line for the manufacturing of complete electric city and intercity buses for European markets. By strengthening its partnership with MCV, Volvo Buses is continuing to develop its business model. The new facility, located at MCVs premises outside Cairo, Egypt, has been built to meet the highest standard of quality and production requirements, and was formally inaugurated on September 16.

    Events service now available for new bus models

    The first version of the connected service Events is being launched in Volvo Connect for vehicles on our new electric architecture. As a fleet owner, you can now use the Events service for all bus models in the same fleet.

  • Volvo Buses has started the production of its first electric bi-articulated bus chassis. With zero CO2 emissions and very low noise levels, the BZRT model, in articulated and bi-articulated versions, is manufactured at Volvo’s Brazilian plant in Curitiba, which is now capable of exporting the chassis to BRT systems worldwide.

  • Volvo Buses has launched the new Volvo 7800 Electric in Mexico, the first electric articulated and bi-articulated bus manufactured in the country. The new electric bus is built on Volvo Buses’ global electromobility platform BZR and it will evolve the Bus Rapid Transit systems in Mexico, creating a more efficient and sustainable people transport system.

  • Volvo Buses has received an order from Svealandstrafiken for a total of 106 electric buses to operate in the counties of Västmanland and Örebro in Sweden. The initial order included 60 Volvo 8900 Electric – the first orders since the model was launched – and 13 Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated. Svealandstrafiken has now placed a call-off for a further 33 Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated.

  • During the spring of 2025, Volvo Buses, together with the public transport companies VL and Svealandstrafiken, will be testing a new and innovative self-driving support system for bus drivers in Västerås, Sweden. The support system enables buses to drive independently into and out of bus stops. It is designed primarily to reduce the stress on drivers, but also to lower the environmental impact of the buses and increase safety and comfort for passengers.
